A book about therapy directed by the client and focused on outcome.  Written for professionals, but I think it speaks to the empowerment of the client as well.

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill -- NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families.  This site has information on all types of mental illnesses, with a focus on severely mentally ill.
